M.i - The Coldplay Sessions [2012]

It took a long time. After a long time, the highly anticipated Coldplay Sessions is here. Following up the Jack Johnson Sessions' use of samples from one artist, Coldplay Sessions Coldplay. Believe it. Its a pretty good album, but it kinda sounds like M.i is trying to find a label to cling to, and I wouldn't say its as good as the JJS. Worthwhile listen.

Astronautalis - This Is Our Science [2011]

It would be a lie to say that Astronautalis isn't weird. But he isn't weird in a bad way. The blend of indie and hip hop he brings along with his constantly shifting subject matter keeps it interesting. And Astro figured out a way to blend them together flawlessly. He probably got bored in the Midwest so he ended up mixing genres. What else are you gonna do in the Midwest? Make good music, that's all I can think of.
He's also barely less than a god lyrically.

One way I can plagiarize to describe Astro is if Beck grew up with more hip-hop influence.
I'm done, your turn to judge.

Watsky & Mody - Watsky & Mody [2012]

New Watksy! Needless to say, I'm excited. So excited that I actually posted for the first time in months. Sorry about that, 5 followers.
Anywho, Watsky decided to go in a completely different direction with this album. In his words, the album is a "bluegrass, folk rock, hip hop album." Watsky does what he does on this album, and he does it well. From fast rapping to spoken word poetry, its in this album, and its backed by all live instruments. I'm not a fan of the skits between the songs, but the album is really fresh, and a good listen if you're bored of rap. Best of all, it's free and released on his website. Yeehaw.

Tracklist:
01. Mody on the Turnpike
02. Man of Constant Sorrow ft. Dylan Saunders
03. Kick Monday ft. Wax
04. Mrs. Robinson ft. Danny McClain
05. Ghost Party w/ Mieka Pauley
06. Mody at the Divebar
